Close to a year ago, I posted about a sweater that I was working from a pattern in Barbara Walker’s Knitting from the Top. Today that sweater is still a work in progress. The neck still needs finished and I’m still mulling over what to do with it.
For the bottoms of the arm and body, I decided to do a folded hem rather than a ribbed cuff or some other treatment. The bottoms of the arms are complete and the bottom of the body is almost done.
The folded hem is pretty simple to do. The sweater was knit in the round from the top down, so when I reached the final arm length, I purled a row and then knit straight for about 9 rows, then bound off.
Then the bottom part is folded so that the wrong sides of the work are facing and the bottom is attached to the inside of the work.
Here’s to having a finished sweater before April!
